Lupin Live Action casting game.

Ok, who would your cast be for the rumoured Lupin III movie?

Many people have suggested Bruce Campbell as Zenigata but I think he could also take lead as Lupin depending upon how he played the part. http://www.8bitjoystick.com/archives/photos/bruce.jpg JIm Carrey was also suggested as Lupin and definitely has the range to play the role. I think Carrey could lend well to the role, playing Lupin and then undergoing makeup to disguise and play an entirely different personality, finally ripping off the disguise in front of Zenigata and taking off running.

I am also trying to think of a good casting choice for Pycal if he made an appearance. I have a vague picture of an actor in my head but I can't remember who it was or where I have seen him. I remember a particularly evil look, a narrow face and dark hair Who would you cast here? http://digilander.libero.it/minikame/lupin/pycal/pycal14.jpg

Also, what director would you pick? I would like to see a collaboration between Takeshi Kitano and Hayao MIyazaki on direction with Monkey Punch supervising.

Also, what look should Lupin have? I am thinking green vest Lupin would be best over red or pink vest.

Where the hell do you get Ethan Hawke being Lupin? Personally I agree that Jim Carrey would be perfect for Lupin, just loopy and crazy enough, and able to play multiple roles. Jigen... someone cool and collected that looks good with shades, or with hat down, some form that you can't see his eyes. I hate to be too agreeable, but Bruce Campbell would do fine there too. He's got the long face for it too. Goemon... well if we're going to keep with big names, how about Jet Li? Zenigata, well honestly I always kind of pictured him as a bumbling fat guy in a skinny guy suit. Curses to me... John Goodman is the first name that comes to mind.

I always thought that Adam Sandler resembles Lupin, though I cannot say that he fits the part or not.

I would love to see the Hollywood Lupin movie get done and have the story center around Lupin vs. Pycal. It would be nice if they took the plot from the Pycal episode of the first series and expanded on it. I wouldn't go for the return of pycal thing, still a good Lupin but the character got too outlandish compared to his original form.

In my impossible to get actors, I would love to see Katharine Ross from the 70's play Mine Fujiko, she is the closest person I have ever seen to match Fujiko's looks )Particularly her eyes)

(come to think of it, Dustin Hoffman could have made an odd but interesting Lupin choice)

For Lupin, I actually like Matthew Broderick, but wouldn't he be a bit old? Tom Hanks would make a good Zenigata.

I agree with that other guy, though, Katherine Ross woulda been a great choice for Fujicakes if this was made 'back in the day.' I've seen other people suggest Japanese model/acress Yuko.

This should be based on the pilot episode (sans the Fujiko dance sequence, too raunchy for a PG rating combined with the next nude scenes) and the first 9 episodes of TV 1.

Lupin - Jason Lee (My Name is Earl)
Jigen - Harrison Ford (Star Wars)
Goemon - Akio Otsuka, voice of David Prowse (Star Wars)
Fujiko - Emma Watson (Airborn)
Zenigata - Jim Cummings (various animated movies)

putting jim carrey against bruce campbell does sound like it would work.

i actually think stephen chow could play lupin.

i really can't think or a woman who could play fujiko, she's so ott in a good way, i don't think she would work, a fictional character in the best sense.

i can't think of a western actor who could play smug and likable, even bruce campbell gets a bit irritating. i fact of all anime adaptations i think lupin could come out worst through casting choices. maybe like astro boy they should just make a new film but still animated.

who would direct it?
the best i can come up with is michael winterbottom - he can do anything
or edgar wright the spaced director, actaully there you go simon pegg as lupin

I liked the chemistry between Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks in Catch Me If You Can. I wouldn't mind seeing them paired up again as Lupin and Zenigata. It doesn't matter who plays Fujiko as long as she's young enough and she's got big you-know-whats. Maybe Hugh Jackman as Jigen and Jet Li or Chao Yun Phat as Goemon.

Lupin: Jim Carrey...like, who else??

Fujiko: an inspired...and admittedly controversial...casting choice would be Asia Carrera, internet and adult film goddess. have a look and then tell me no! http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/RWdS-wFOSW1ZlAm4QtRlFw and
http://www.flixster.com/actor/asia-carrera

Goemon: Hiroyuki Sanada may fit, but he seems too old.

Zenegata: Bruce Campbell is a great idea...better, had he lived, would be Walter Matthau. That is if it wouldn't be better with a Japanese actor.

Jigen: how 'bout Timothy Dalton in a swarthy beard? Great actor with fierce expression and a cold air.

Goemon = Yƻsuke Iseya, star of Sukiyaki Western Django and a virtual dead ringer.

Even if it was an American film it would still need Asian Actors
I think these actors would be perfect

John Cho - Lupin
Karl Yune - Jigen
Byung Hun Lee or Will Yun lee - Goeman
Meisa Kuroki - Fujiko(Meisa plays Fujiko in the Japanese Movie it would be awesome if she played the character in a US Version)
