TV set in David's girlfriend's flat.Was that likely,seeing as TV shut down in 1939?

Even though there were no broadcasts, was she supposed to dump it? They didn't know how long the war was going to last

Yes I noticed that too.Could u tell me who Bessie was in the episode Take it on trust. The name Bessie appears in the closing credits of that episode but I did not see her in the episode.
