How come they never did one on Jimi Hendrix?

Were they waiting for new information to surface or something?

What about Grateful Dead? Led Zeppelin? Talking Heads?

They even did K.C. and the Sunshine Band and the Partridge Family, but it always seemed to me like I was waiting around for many of these major acts that were omitted.

These are some of the acts that were never showcased on "Behind the Music" correct me if I'm wrong. (in some cases they must've thought "such documentaries on these people have been done already, already!")

How come all my posts are so good and everyone elses' are like "Bluh, bluh bluh bluh?"

reply

In some cases it would have been too expensive to get the rights to the music.

Zeppelin and The Who got episodes of Legends (another show they need to bring back - like they are bringing this back to VH1 Classic). I think Jimi got an episode of Legends as well. Not really sure.

It could be they couldn't get the rights to use his music or it wouldn't have made a particularly interesting episode because not enough of the people who knew him were willing to participate. Also, quite a few people who were close to him are now dead, including his father and both other members of his band The Experience.

reply

There was an episode of Legends done on him. so that's probably the biggest reason why.

reply

Because VH1 is white-collar conservatives flashing down the street?

reply

I remember a Legends about Jimi.

"Two more swords and I'll be Queen of the Monkey People." Roseanne

reply

Don't they have to get permission from the artist/band, their people, or family members (if they're dead)? And of course get the rights to their music and clips. They can't just run episodes on ANYBODY. I'd like the episodes on Sade, Prince, and Grace Jones but I know that's not gonna happen any time soon.

What the problem is?

reply

I think some of those acts were featured on VH1 Legends. Please click on
