Best version of the best English novel ever written

This series is just fantastic and most cleverly reflects the essence of the novel. Full of perfection such as the closing shots of Crawley's fat black sow complete with bloated teets or the Belgian busker's rendition of Rule Brittannia; imagery which captures the ugliness of the human condition balanced with stirring emotions reflecting all that is fine about us. I love Becky Sharpe; she is the female character for all staunch characters regardless of gender, and shows up those Austen women for the wet fish that they are - sadly now so much more familiar to the high school curriculum. Natasha Little plays Ms Sharpe to all her strengths and allows us to brazenly cheer from the sidelines whilst she kicks against all those mediocre pricks. Consider the addition of the brilliant script from fine actors such as Miriam Margoyles, Janine Duvitski and Tom Ward who all present exquisite performances against Natasha Little's venomous delight. Comparison to pan American versions including Reece Witherspoon - pu-lease.

sissy, agreed. I watch this every few years. It is perfection.

This time around I am marveling about the sets and costumes. They are superb. I love Becky and Rawdon's "little house in Mayfair" it's stunning.

But of soruce the actors and dialog are fantastic!
