Jos Sedley being hosed
In the last episode, why was Jos Sedley being hosed with water?
shareI believe it's the result of Jos giving the Major's name at the Edelweiss. Remember that when Becky is told to leave before his Lordship returns in 2 weeks, his man mentions that the Major could go to the gallows if his doings were discovered.
So when Jos mentioned his name at the Edelweiss, thinking it would benefit him, instead he was punished for his association with the Major.
I think.
Jos wasn't being punished, he was "taking the water cure" in a spa, something the wealthy went to little resort towns like "Bad Pumpernickel" for.

I thought taking the water was a bit more genteel, like drinking it or bathing peacefully in it. Apparently not.
