Im a big southpark fan, scene every episode, and I think its the funniest cartoon out there. but the movie was just downright corny. Way too many stupid musicals, it felt like I was watching a gay cartoon musical. Thankyou.

It's an R rated musical, what the hell did you expect? The show has had music in it so many times, Matt and trey got their start doing a musical. The movie was not corny and... IT'S A MUSICAL!!!! Oddly musicals exist and have, hold onto your troll hat, MUSIC IN THEM!!!

Yet you think South Park is the funniest? How lowbrow can you possibly be?

That's like saying "so you love the original Star Wars trilogy but hate the prequels?". Both trilogies are sci-fi films for young people and both are set in space, just the same way both the SP film and the show are set in South Park and are adult comedies. Doesn't mean that they'll have the same quality or be equally likable. They all have distinctive storylines and themes, and not everybody would dig them. So it is perfectly understandable to love the show and hate the movie, or vice versa, as they are two different mediums.

I'm also a massive South Park fan, and thought that this movie was atrocious.

This movie felt like a bad imitation or parody of the show. I found it too bombastic, annoyingly in-your-face and bloated. Don't let me start on the frequent usage of songs. Since when is South Park a musical? *sigh*

I also couldn't believe that I was watching an 85 minute film. It felt like a 2 hour film. It was just too much. They wanted to cram in so many material in such a short time. It didn't work for me. Nor its overblown vulgar humour - Heard the term "less is more"? That's what made the show good. Subtlety does wonders.

Anyhow, I had to watch a SP episode right afterwards to flush this disappointing film out of my system and to remind myself how damn good the show is. I applaud and commend Stone/Parker for not following this film's ill footsteps by adding perpetual songs, extreme vulgarity and unfunny absurdities in the latter SP shows.

Why do you think it is corny?
