"Muppets From Space" is actually Pepe's first appearance (this is confirmed in the hilarious commentary track by director Tim Hill, Gonzo, and Rizzo).

actually, pepe was on "muppets tonight". that was on tv in 1996. he was an elevator attendent, and later a chef in the muppets tonight commissary.

I swear i saw this funky shrimp Pepe in 'Muppets Tonight' many a year ago- he was pals with Semour (sp?) the elephant guy....they were lift operators? This sounds like some kind of crazy dream but I'm positive Pepe was in it. And the two of them even had a song they sang to fill an empty slot in the show...but the audience hated it.

Yes, that is correct. Pepe was originally in Muppets Tonight, as well as Johnny and Sal (the lounge lizard and monkey who are stealing Gonzo's cake), Clifford (the big purple and pink guy with the HUGE lips) and the bear at Covnet, whose name escapes me right now. If you haven't seen it, try finding the episodes on rerun sometime. They were great, but the show was killed too early.

omg! i found some website called pepe's lounge awhile back, and you could watch all the commericials, and the "screen test" it was hilarious! like, the producer would say, if you get the part, pepe, you can get all the long john's you want, and he went, well, winter's coming, so i could use these long johns! i forget the website address though... try google if you want to see it.
Pepe is the coolest muppet ever! i hope they make some more good muppet movies (the wizard of oz one wasn't that great...)

Didn't Pepe appear with some goat or something in Muppets tonight. They were telling bad jokes or something. I remembered the goat singing "If you think I'm sexy.." always when he entered the sketch.
shareI work for LJS! (Long John Silvers for you laymen.) They abandonded this whole advertising line because they wanted a spokesperson, not an icon. They found the people didn't know WHAT Pepe was advertising, just that he was advertising something. People came into LJS just saying 'Hey, I saw Pepe on TV' but they had NO idea WHAT he was advertising. LJS didn't want a Ronald Mcdonald, so they dropped the whole idea. I personally think that LJS could'a made a s*it load of money just off of selling Pepe dolls myself, but they don't ask us pee-ons.
