Copy Available

To all the folks looking for a copy of J.T. let me start off by saying that Carousel Films is out of business therefore no real legitimate copies will probably surface from now on unless you were fortunate enough to order direct from Carousel when they were in business for their ridiculous price! In doing some surfing on the Net I came across www.flashbackdvd.com from the state of Oregon and for a decent price he sold me a nice clean as can be copy of J.T. on DVD. Remember that this movie was not made by any real major movie studio like MGM...therefore, one should not expect any kind of real pristine copy from any source unless the time comes where someone will clean it up and release it in a digitally enhanced version. The actual running time for this movie was 49 minutes. This sounds complete since it probably premiered as an hour long feature and the network needed at least 10 to 11 minutes of advertisements.

Good luck!

I could not find flashbackdvd.com. Has name changed? I would love to get a copy of J.T. I was eleven when I first saw it. We found a similar looking tuxedo tabby kitten about 12 years ago, who had been roughed up with a puncture in his neck. He survived to the age of 10. We named him Mr. Bones.

Thanks!

I was hoping you could lead me in the right direction. I teach the book J.T. and would love to show the kids the T.V. version of it.

Since these posts are all a bit old, I thought I'd post an update. I went to www.flashbackdvd.com and sent an email inquiry about this. They do still have it. I was told:

"Our version of the film is very nice quality, an 'A-/B+', or 8.5 out of 10 with a clean picture, good colors and decent quality sound. It was personally transferred from an original (and now virtually impossible to find) "Carousel Films" VHS tape utilizing the highest bit rate possible to ensure the original quality would be maintained. This is the complete version of the special, with 5 chapter points placed to correspond to each of the original segments in the film. I would say that's easily the best and cleanest looking version in circulation.

"The film is transferred onto top rated and highly compatible DVD-R media (Taiyo Yuden). It is All-Region playable.
As such, you will have no problems with playback on your DVD player, or deterioration of data over time (as can be case when cheaper media is used)."

I ordered the DVD last Saturday night, and it arrived today (OR -> PA). I tested it in my PC, and the video itself was pretty clear, though not perfect. There was also a dark line along the right edge of the frame, but I guess that could be due to frame size.

I am pleased with my purchase, since my husband has talked about this for years, and I think he will be happy, and much prefer watching it this way than the copy on YouTube he discovered last year.
