Does anyone know if the German actors (Gus, Lavinia, and Athena) were dubbed? On the DVD there's a Rosamund Pilcher special that has interviews with the actresses playing Lavinia and Athena, and they both have distinctly German accents.
shareathena is definitely dubbed which i think comes through quite strongly in the film, I'm not sure about gus and lavinia though, i think they may just be putting on an english accent.

Uhlig wrote several autobiographies, one about her life in California ("Einladung nach Kalifornien" aka Invitation to California).
I re-watched the credits and apparently this was a British-German co-production and the actors listed who portrayed these characters were probably German from their names, so it is likely that their voices had to be dubbed for that reason.

shareIf you watch both Coming Home and Nancherrow and listen very careful to Gus Callender's voice, it is the same voice. Obviously the same chap dubbed for Heikko Deutschmann and Philip Moog.
As Gus was raised to be a 'Gentleman' it is probable that his Nanny; and later his prep school and Rugby would have erased any trace of a strong Aberdonian accent he had had as a child before his father went up in the world.
