I absolutely loved this anime when it was first released in English (I recently replaced my old clunky subtitled VHS tapes with the nice and neat DVD). I also have all the English translated mangas.

But be warned, the English dubbed version of Dominion: Tank Police (produced in the UK using American accents) sucks! I normally don't mind English dubbing in anime, but this was an atrocity. While the voice acting is respectable (but still inferior to the Japanese), they took a lot of liberties with the dialogue and even added lines of character thoughts which didn't exist in the Japanese version (during a tense SILENT standoff scene). Even worse, they COMPLETELY changed the Japanese songs and background music with some really AWFUL Western produced fluff!!! What were the Brits thinking?!

Thankfully, with the DVD, you can now both enjoy the wonderful original Japanese version with subtitles as well as experience the horrid English dub (out of morbid curiousity).

To be honest, even though I love this move, I never found the music on the japanese version to be of any quality. God, to me most of it is horrid. Hot Dance in Cherry Moon? I have to fast forward that every time. One of the lower quality anime soundtracks.

Although I do agree with subs being more accurate then dubs since they don't need to re-write dialogs to fit the lip movements - so when ever possible I always watch subs. God, back in the day when I used to buy anime on laserdisc (late 80s, early 90s,) I was so hardcore about subs over dubs that I used to buy my laserdiscs from Japan which always came with English Closed Captioning. But back then TVs didn't come with captioning built in so I had to spend $400 for a set-top box that used to display the captioning on my TV....

How much we take for granted these days! haha

Ummmmm... sorry OP, but I'm forced to disagree with you here-- the soundtrack and dub for the English version is actually a shining highlight of early '90s anime, as i remember it! As ionian said:

Horrid indeed!!! The blatantly ENIGMA-inspired English version soundtrack, regardless of not being original, is a memorable and sensuous piece of work-- especially the silky-smooth closing song, "I Adore You". It's so damn sexy! =P The original Japanese soundtrack, on the other hand, is an awkward, embarrassing mess of... i don't know, but Chri$t, it's such a failure to these ears!

I couldn't help but comment on the subject; i lost interest in anime in the early 2000s, but as someone who was there in the glorious pre-DVD/Blu-Ray days of super-expensive VHS tapes and LDs (both domestic and imported), i felt obliged to defend one of the most ironic moments in anime history: D.T.P.'s English soundtrack actually being better than the original Japanese soundtrack. =) Whatever, though; these days I'd much rather watch House By The Cemetery or Gestapo's Last Orgy.

I prefer the English dub & soundtrack to the original Japanese version. The music is definitely a lot more engaging and actually fit the tone of the animation a lot better.

Yeah, I first experienced it with the Western ost, and it worked as a way to appeal to westerners with generic downtempo house to replace the 80s JPop sound. Really, the Japanese OST sounds better to me than the cringe worthy pseudo-techno they replaced it with. I guess to each his own, though.

The US version did have a couple of good tracks, but those were carried over from the Japanese ost. They just played them at different times than the Japanese counterpart.

The voice acting was O.k, but Leona's voice actress was terrible. Especially when she's whispering when her character is clearly yelling, "Hey Al, are you blind?" Its like she was just reading off the script without even seeing the scene. Ugh...
