For those who blame Kevin Sullivan...

He's not the only person to blame for this monstrosity. The "heirs" of Lucy Maud Montgomery are just as despicable as he is. They forced the company into a situation where they had no choice but to create a completely original storyline that didn't use any plot points from anything LMM had written (despite the fact that it should all be in the public domain - the "heirs" have a nice little setup with the Canadian government that allows them to continue to collect royalties on something that should legally no longer belong to them).

However, it's a shame that Sullivan childishly allowed his contempt for "the heirs" to spill over into the movie, which comes across as three hours of "nya-nya nya nya-nya" directed at them at the expense of the legions of fans who waited 13 years for a new film. They wanted to see the characters they were familiar with in a story that made sense, not a treatise on all the ways Sullivan could think of to spit on LMM's memory while still managing to make a ton of money that they "heirs" couldn't touch. Mr. Sullivan needs to go away now.

Uh, but Kevin Sullivan forced them into forcing him into that position when he violated the contract, and claimed that he'd made no profit out of the first two movies (which is absolutely hogwash). Nope, this is KS' fault, he single-handedly made this mess.

Honey, because I love Martin Luther King so much, I would never defile his memory by dressing him up as a circus clown if his family refused to let me tell his real story. This is what Kevin had done. Some things are sacred and should not be cheapened for an easy buck. Kevin is in short, a whore.

The heirs did not do this. They simply asked people to ask permission before banking off their grandmother's books. You would want the same for your family if you were a writer.

As I said regarding the trailer for the Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes film, it's too bad fictional characters can't sue for slander and libel.
