No, not 1993.
I'm not sure where this "MonsterVision began in 1993" biz came from (other than wikipedia), but MonsterVision was already going in full force when I first got cable in 1991. On a Saturday night, they would have an all-night marathon of genre pictures starting at 7 p.m. CST and ending at 4 or 5 a.m. CST. There would be Harryhausen films, Godzilla films, non-Godzilla Japanese monster films, assorted sci-fi films, so-called worst genre movies ever made.
In November of '92, MonsterVision aired an all-night marathon of Hammer Dracula movies, each introduced by Christopher Lee because of the Coppola Dracula's release. I still have the VHS I taped of all those movies and it is indeed MonsterVision. The movies were "Taste the Blood of Dracula", "The Satanic Rites of Dracula", "Dracula A.D. 1972" and "Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires."
MonsterVision was severely overhauled when Joe Bob Briggs became the host in '95 or '96 (whenever it was), but it had already been around so much longer than everyone seems to be claiming online. Don't let people try to tell you otherwise. I was there and it was awesome.
