You know what I heard? On October 30, 1938, Martians attacked New York City, killed thousands of people, and then ended up dying because of the bacteria in the air. It was broadcasted live on the radio.

It's called creative license, and, in my opinion, makes the movie even better because it is so realistic. This is obviously what Woody Allen was going for and it shouldn't piss you off because he accomplished exactly what he wanted to.

And in case you're wondering, you can get the soundtrack to Sweet and Lowdown on Amazon and various other online retail outlets.

"It's called creative license"

Christ, it almost sounds like you're saying that Martians DIDN'T attack New York City on October 30, 1938.

reply

Tomorrow is the 74th anniversary of that horrible attack. My great grandfather died defending this country from those awful Martians. Never forget.

The interview portions were my favorite part.

reply

It's a spoof documentary for goodness sake. Surely you are not saying you took this film seriously?

reply

I knew people who took This Is Spinal Tap seriously when it first came out, and they were supposed to be a contemporary act. When Sweet and Lowdown came out I wasn't sure if Emmett Ray was real or not, but when I saw it, I knew Woody was putting us on as soon as I saw "A.J. Picker" and recognized him as Daniel Okrent, who was very prominent in Ken Burns' Baseball.

reply

No, it's a real movie. I just watched it. Unless that was a dream...

Yeah. A genuine fugazi, this.
