Young Man with a Horn

La Strada is a definite influence on Sweet and Lowdown, but I also think there's an element of Young Man with a Horn in which the talented but not entirely tight wrapped jazz musician runs into a detour. Blanche seems reminiscent of the Lauren Bacall character in Young Man.
