so alan smithee! did kiefer sutherland direct the whole thing?

Alan Smithee is used when directors want to pull their name from titles, becasue of studios messing with the pictures. i am a huge kiefer sutherland fan and i want to know if this movie is as he inteded. because every other place, than imdb, has the director be Alan Smithee. so is this movie close to what kiefer sutherland wanted it to be?

reply

I haven't seen the movie but I understand Keifer directed it all.

I think Kiefer had said that during the editing process, the studio made all sorts of edits that he was against, so he took his name off the movie.

i'm watching the movie right now and during the opening credits kiefer sutherland is listed as the director. i'm not sure why imdb would have alan smithee as a director if that's not what credited in the actual movie.

reply

Just now on TV in Canada it's credited to Smithee.

He probably took his name off of it when it was slammed by the critics and made up the excuse that the studio interfered in the editing process.

reply

Some directors take their name off when a movie goes to video/dvd or TV as the edits for each are different. I'm guessing Sutherland didn't like the TV edit and removed his name specifically for that edit.
