Suzy Q was in Holland never shown in cinema's because Mick Jagger blocked the music rights. It was shown on TV once and in two festivals (1999- NFF - Dutch Film festival - Gouden Kalveren for Carice van Houten and jack Wouterse and a special prize for Martin van Koolhoven, the director - and in 2006 Erasmus Filmfestival). There are illegal DVD's of the film but it is very hard to get one.TV-station VPRO was one of the producers of the film but they only have the TV-rights and festivalrights. The story behind all this is one of the sub-plots of the film: Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull are having a sexual encounter with a 16-year old girl (played by Carice van Houten - her first filmrole). The girl commits suicide and her family falls apart. The filmscript is based on real facts when the Rolling Stones visited Amsterdam but the Dutch police sweeped the case against Mick Jagger under the carpet. When it was used in this film he tried to stop the viewing but his agents allready gave the musicrights away for TV and festivals, so he only could stop cinemaviewings. This unbelievable story was told and proved by one of the producers. I know the name of the girl who was involved. In real life she only tried to commit suicide but ended up as a junkie and destroyed her life. REG
