Dash Rendar's fate

When I beat the game on Easy, it wasn't clear on what happened to Dash Rendar and Leebo after the destruction of the Skyhook reactor. Luke and Leia say they both died, but in the end credits it says beat the game on Hard to find out... I'm having trouble beating the game on Hard, so can someone tell me what comes of Dash Rendar?

reply

The endings are different for each difficulty level. I remember beating it on easy and it shows Dash Rendar and Leebo flying through hyperspace and talking about how as long as everyone thinks they're dead then nobody will go looking for them for destroying the skyhook. It was a decent ending. I never beat it on the other two difficulty levels but those endings are supposed to be even better.

reply

If you haven't beaten the game or read the novel, read no further unless you wish to know the ending.

The following excerpt is from the "Shadows of the Empire" novel by Steve Perry:

"They [the Rebel forces] headed for the debris, and it looked as if it was going to be just fine. The good guys had triumphed!
"'Look out, Dash!' Lando yelled.
"Luke could hardly spare a glance, but he did, just in time to see a block of shattered skyhook the size of a resiplex zero in on the Outrider.
"'Dash,' Luke yelled. It was too close to avoid---
"There was an actinic flare of light too bright to look at. Luke turned away, saw Lando throw up one arm to block the glare.
"When the light faded, the Outrider had vanished."

I hope this answers your question, as I am almost certain that this is what happens at the end of the 'Hard' difficulty setting.

Good job on not reading the other guy's post.

So where is he now?

reply

It says in the game that he chooses to go low for a while, because he doesn't want every bounty hunter in the galaxy after him, for killing Xizor. So he's going to some other part of the galaxy I presume.

BTW I completed the Game on Easy, medium and Jedi and the ending doesn't change from Medium or Jedi (don't know about hard). Shame really, but it's a good ending nonetheless

So where is he now?

I'm right here. Alive and well. Yep, it's true. You guys figured it out. Leebo and I basically staged our own death and ditched the alliance so we can continue our care-free smuggler-by-day gambler-by-night lifestyle without those guys always asking us for favors.

Speaking of favors, please do me one. Don't reveal my IMDB hideout to the Alliance. You don't want my careful plan to be all for nothing, do you?

reply

I not exactly sure about anymore about what happens when you finish the game on "hard" but the fate of Dash is always in the hands of the player.
After you have fired the last missile at the core of the reactor of the skyhook you have to hurry to leave the exploding structure. If you make it to exit of one of the four tunnels Dash survives. If you fail Dash's fate is shrouded in mystery.

reply

Oh don't worry, we won't. But I have a question. In the Millenium Falcon toy, how come you could smuggle a few people in there, but in the Outrider toy, you could only smuggle a bag of groceries? Didn't you have any say about how you and your stuff was represented?

All right! I know that on every web sites we talk about Dash Rendar's fate surviving the destruction of the Falleen Battlecruiser.

Nevertheless, remember that it is Dark Horse comics that say the mercenary is alive. The author Steve Perry never wrote that Dash Rendar survived the explosion in the novels. In Shadows of the Empire, Dash dies at the end. He is killed when Darth Vader orders the destruction of Xizor's flagship. The rebel bounty hunter didn't make it.

Dark Horse stated that Dash was alive for audiences. But in truth it's impossible because the Rogue Squadron scanned and scouted the area and foun no trace of their friend SO DASH RENDAR 'S FATE IS OVER.

By the way, the Dark Horse comic of Evolution doesn't count.

reply

Wrong.

According to the Star Wars Site itself, Dash Rendar is alive, and the Dark Horse comic counts. Lucas and the rest at LucasArts/Films/Games decided that Rendar is alive and kicking. The game is right, Dash lives.

reply

If you want to get REAL technical with it, none of this stuff counts since it is considered to be EU. Lucas and his crew have stated that the only definitive thing in the Star Wars universe are the movies themselves.

I know for a fact that he and Guri (Xizor's Replica Droid) end up together.

It's in the Star Wars Fact Files.

reply

You guys may believe Dash Rendar s alive but in the truth is he is dead.
Some considered him to dead in Shadows of the Empire but in the NEw Jedi Order series he died aboard a Yuuzhan Vong warship.

reply

How did it happen?

Just got the game for free in 2008! LOL

considering the story is fiction, not sure why u care so much lol.

Well im going answer the question like this, ive beaten the game on Jedi, thats where you see the true ending, Dash and leebo make it out alive, they jumped into hyper space before skyhook blew! The conversation at the end says they are going to stay low for a while, make everyone think they are dead so no one comes looking, just like a previous poster said. Now in the novel, well who really knows but it is also possible that he jumped into hyper space, and even if the rogues did scan to find him, they wouldnt find him because had he jumped to hyper space it would be un-traceable. It actually makes perfect sense.

reply

There are no alternate endings. It leaves you wondering on the Easy setting to encourage you to play the game again on a harder difficulty.
As has been stated clearly already, they hypered out as the Skyhook blew.
Now, can anyone answer this;
Why didn't Han think of that at Yavin?

"Where do I go to now I've gone too far?"

reply

i dont understand what you mean exactly, at Yavin Han came back to save Luke, there was no need to jump to hyper space, he stuck around cause he was a hero and he had nothing to fear, as far as he knew the war was over, it wasnt obviously. He was later attacked by a bounty hunter before Empire stikes back, he also speaks to Dash as the empire attacked echo base on Hoth. So Dash pretty much knows that if he does stick around he would be hunted just like han. So i guess it could be argued that Han didnt really know if he was going to be a target or not. Either way im glad he stuck around

"Yes that IS a ruler in my pocket and YES I am happy to see you"

reply

Fair comment and I agree with you that I'm glad Han stuck around but think about it. He was already in hock with Jabba, he MUST have known what was coming. But then again, unlike Dash, Han was in with a chance of getting some Royal booty! Dash didn't even get a reward lol.

"Where do I go to now I've gone too far?"

reply

True that Han was on the hook with Jabba but i guess if we think about it the rebellion was a great place to hide. I mean seems kinda dumb but the rebels were not all out in the open. They hid until it was time to strike. But i think you stumbled ipon the true reason as to why he stayed, thats right, the royal booty, i would have stayed too... And yeah whats up with Dash not getting any? No reward, no booty, man no wondered he choose to hide!

I heard from a very reliable source, Dash is dead. My sister's, cousin's, best friend's, former room mate's, ex-girlfriend's boss said he was there and searched the wreckage!

He's dead!!

I think?!

Dash is alive! He'll be in the nest three Star Wars movies that will take place years after Return of the Jedi.
