The person who wrote the comment on the front page (who revealed a little too much plot info) didn't know what the title is supposed to signify. I think it has to do with one of the early scenes where the brothers wash the blood off their bodies in the river. I guess it signifies that they could never fully clean it off and that river would never be able to wash away the blood on their hands.

I felt this was a great movie. Tom Everett Scott gave an excellent performance and the music fit in very well. Highly recommended.

I agree with your explanation of the title, though I think a better one might be: Woodpile.

I felt this was a great movie too and I only caught half of it. The critics rated it a C I think it should have been a B. I would recommend it too.
