This was an excellent survey of Brooks's life and career but Shirley MacClaine was not the best choice as narrator. Her voice quality is a bit "soft" and I found myself having to turn the volume way up or listen with headphones in order to catch all the words. I thought the narration itself was well written but suspect Ms. MacClaine was chosen for the drawing power of her name.

It seems like MacLaine was chosen mainly because, like Brooks, she sported a short hairdo in most of her movies. There doesn't appear to be any other similarity or connection between the two women.
