Yes, because someone with the username "Goretex" is a credible source.

Just kidding. It looks a little... Heavy. Intriguing, though.

"How did you find America?"
"Turned left at Greenland."

haha.. nice... but seriously.. it is great... I've watched it possible 4 times or so... i love documentaries. and it doesn't pull any punches. also it talks about things long since gone and forgotten in american history.

reply

I agree. It's not a popcorn documentary and is quite graphic in certian spots, but terrific.

this documentary is not very bad at all. not in the sense of the traces of death, or faces of gore videos. there is very few actual murder scenes. most of the footage i had seen previously either in high school history class (the assasinations of the kennedys, vietnam war footage, etc.)or on television. this is a very highly educational film that is not meant to shock or offend, but rather inform and make a statement about the violent ways of the US. i actually watched it with my mother and she thought it to be a fantastic documentary. it sparked great conversation between us afterwards, as well. now, i'm not saying this film is like watching sesame street. there was a few times she had to turn away from the screen but it's not that bad. hope this helps you.

hell, for that price, i'd pick up two! i would definitely pick this up. UNLESS, you are looking for carnage. then i would stick to the real shockumentary stuff. well, i hope you enjoy the film! let us all know what you thought of it!

absolutley loved it! my friend and i watched it last night and i found it to be very informative and (although a little biased) a wonderfully made documentary about executions. boy, they hold nothing back, do they? the one that really stuck with me is that one at the end. i believe it's from iran? maybe i'm confused. anyway, they take the man in front of a firing squad (they basically just lay him on the ground and start firing) and have multiple men shoot him. when they hit him in the face is just terrible. that and the african woman that you see being stripped and dragged through a mob of angry citizens is just git-wrenching. she committed no crime, just tried to stand up for herself. you can see the fear and pain in her face. that one got me as well. what else do you recommend watching?

yeah, i've already seen all of those. this may sound macabre, but i would like to find something with more live action stuff. i see them all over imdb here, but have a hard time even finding torrents to download. some of those are just so obscure. i'm sure i could find them for sale somewhere on the internet, but i am so completelt broke. this accident i was in, and the recovery(so far; plenty to go!) have absolutely drained me financially. if you haven't seen them yet, most of the traces of death movies are pretty damn graphic shockumentaries. so are the faces of gore videos. the latter probably being the worst i've seen so far. all it shows is the aftermath of accidents, suicides, murders, etc. no live action shots. just dead bodies. i don't like it too much.

If you haven't already, try to get your hands on the "Banned From Television" series. It's not all death, but alot of accidents where people just barely escape death and sustain very serious injuries. Of course, there are scenes where people get annihilated. The scene I remember the most was from part 3 when a South American man takes a woman hostage with a pistol. What he didn't know was that a sniper had his sights locked in on his face. Ouch.

I believe there are four of these total. 1-3 and Banned From Television: Prison Files

A bit sensationalist, and some facts about the incidents were incorrect (like the siege of the New Orleans Howard Johnson's was not committed by three black men it was only one and his name was not Robert Essex it was Mark Essex. I'm surprised they got that wrong since it remains to this day the worst mass murder in Louisiana history) but it was fascinating to watch. The one part I thought was very interesting was the guy that took the TV station hostage. The way it starts off you'd think it was some guy on the street being interviewed about violence in America. Then the camera pans out and you see he's got a gun.
Definitely not for the faint at heart, but an interesting look back at one of the more tumultuous times in the US's history.

This film was positively brutal and disturbing, but nonetheless still quite powerful and provocative just the same. It certainly does an extremely persuasive job of illustrating how violence is a vicious and widespread sickness in American culture with no immediate foreseeable end or cure in sight.

I've been chasing grace/ But grace ain't easy to find
