Script for this movie

Years ago, I read the script for this movie -- it's been nearly 15 years so I can't remember if this was the title or not, but I remember really liking the screenplay. such it's a genre flick but the story was compelling, the f/x could have been promising and the tension palatable.

I only recently learned they made a movie of it and have yet to see it but like so many fun reads, it looks like they made a crappy movie out of a nifty screenplay
