Nobody Has A Mobile Phone?!

In the scene where Dwight went to check the phone box he found it
infested with the large maggots which had knocked out the power.
And yet nobody on the island had a working mobile phone!!! Not
even the super wealthy businessman nor the lady detective carried
one and many people back in 2000 when this movie was set already
were using cellular phones. I started using a cell phone in 1999.
You'd think that the wealthy industrialist or his assistant who
was killed by the flies would have carried one since they had
traveled off of the mainland. And even the lady cop should've
had one! Not even the corrections officer carried a cell phone!
Just another plot hole which made the movie even more stupid
and unrealistic. Of course due to the remote location of the
island perhaps cell phones would have been out of reception
and wouldn't have worked??? Just my opinion of this "B"
grade movie.

(Although for this piece of crap.....who really cares??)

I seem to remember that the assistant had a cell phone....maybe it was destroyed when he was killed. However, since my eyes were bleeding from the sheer awfulness I might be mistaken.

All I know is that I stayed up WAY too late watching this waste of film. Anyone else remember when Malcolm MacDowell was a real actor??

I can't imagine going without my cell phone now, even though I don't have anyone to call. LOL But, I didn't get a cell phone until 1999, but did not carry one on a regular basis until 2001 or so. So, I can forgive the lack of cell phones, but everything else about this movie sucked.
