I love this!!

I love the 60s Julie Christie version too but this is better. The cast, scenery, everything is just so perfect. A great adaptation of the book!

ya great gullah!!!!

Yes I loved this version too. It was far superior to the '60s adaptation. I thought Julie Christie was dreadfully miscast in that. She wasn't Bathsheba Everdene at all. Paloma Baeza was a perfect choice for the heroine. She fit the description given by Hardy in the novel. She had the youth, the dark eyes, the midnight hair and also the right demeanor.

I also thought Nathaniel Parker was brilliant as Gabriel Oak. He made you feel his every emotion.

This IS without a doubt my most favourite period dramas. It so well acted and the story so lovely. Just could not be better. Nathanial Parker, Gabriel Oak, was absolutely a lovely high light. Nat's acting was at his best in this one! The scenery, costumes, acting, story content, EVERYTHING about this movie is so wonderful.
This will be an ALL time favourite for all those who love 'period dramas'.
We are so fortunate to have this in our library.
Brilliant is putting it mildly!

I saw this for the first time only recently and its already one of my favorite period dramas. I agree that Nathaniel Parker was especially good in it - I completely forgot that I was watching the same guy who played the incurably irresponsible leech Skimpole in "Bleak House".
