Enigma features bit parts for both Nicholas Rowe and Edward Hardwicke. Rowe played the title role in Young Sheerlock Holmes while Hardwicke appeared as Watson in ITV's Sherlock Holmes series of the 1980's and 90's
shareSherlock Holmes has a part in the Enigma story in a rather roundabout way. One of his famous quotes was
"When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains,however improbable, must be the truth?" which is the heuristic concept on which Turing and Welchman's Bombe machine worked, i.e. by a process of elimination. It's still used in computers today.
