mrfchung knows what he's talking about. Great movies to introduce someone to HK cinema. It may be 3 years later, but these HK crime dramas are great too:
Chungking Express - Wong Kar-Wai is one of my top 3 favourite filmmaker's ever.
Election - Johnnie To's stuff is always brilliant.
Running Out of Time
Young and Dangerous - This is a series of films about young triads. I really enjoyed them but I can see how some people would see them as being a little dated. Anthony Wong's cameo's are amazing.

I recently saw Cop on a Mission which I thought started well but slowly deteriorated. Decent though.
