OK when we said we wanted returning characters, this is not what we meant

Of course, I'm happy to see Leo Back and excited for Elliott next week. But many of the "returning" characters (or actors rather) have mainly been the bit players.

Nurse Sheila
Lenny the secret service guy/restaurant waiter in "cop to it"
Bridget, Karen's new maid/crazy in the NBC studio/homeless woman at Goodwill (what is this, Golden Girls?)

I was really hoping for some of the original recurring/support characters
Where are Joe and Larry?
Rob and Ellen?
Beverly Leslie?
Marilyn or Sam?

I know Debbie Reynolds and Sidney Pollack have passed, Shelley Morrison has retired and Bobby Cannivale has said definitely no to returning, but does anyone know anything about the others?
