As excited as I have been, I am (so far) equally disappointed. (SPOILERS)

They're gonna have to do better than this. Let's start with: we are trying to welcome them back into our homes and hearts, and on the first return episode, we get
about three dozen political jabs we've already heard, four middle aged kids running through the white house unattended, two "drink spit" shticks (already) which was a little overdone the first time around, and a dramatic Will v Grace argument (already) that started with a pillow fight in the oval office, and ended in "we can't live together anymore."
And so far, I don't recall a single laugh.

Other than that the premiere was a bit too political and some scenes were a bit awkward. I kinda liked it.

But anyone knows which timeline this season takes place then? Since the whole Leo/Grace and other stuff that happened in S8 was all Karen's bad dream. But I'm sad that Will and Vince broke up too :(

reply

I too was excited and disappointed. The folks in Hollywood need to start realizing that half of their audience don't agree with their politics. If people want to hear this same old rhetoric, they can watch any of the late night talk shows, CNN, ABC, NBC.etc..., Samantha Bee, Chelsea Handler, Noah whats-his-name, and on and on and on. I was looking forward to this show, but the only one who was remotely funny was Karen. I barely had a chuckle.

Yes, Karen is amazing. And I agree they need to tone down the political rhetoric. The country is so divided right now; they'll end up alienating people when this show should be about bringing people together from all sides. Speaking of which, no show ever did such an amazing job at bringing people together during one of the most turbulent times in history than "All in the Family." Don't know why I just thought of that.

Well I've mentioned what I don't like. But here is what I do like. I like the updates to the apartment. I LOVE the updates to the office (except maybe for Tony). I like Kyle Bornheimer (the secret service guy), despite the fact that he's already played a bit part in season 8 but that's okay. And I love the brassy new intro. Very catchy. I'm gonna hope for a better week next week. I can't write them off that quickly.

Oh and I like knowing that Beverly Leslie will be coming back.

The second episode was very funny, and no political statements at all. Give it a chance. The team of actors are great, especially Jack and Will.

The team of actors is great, I'll agree. And I have been looking forward to this reboot of Will & Grace as well.

But the latest episode I just watched about the wedding was not the least bit funny to me.

The jokes seem stale; it doesn't seem like "must see TV" like it did the first time around.

reply

I may try one more episode and then call it quits.

I'm not laughing, either, and the jokes seem very stale.

Everything feels like I have seen it a million times already -- and on this show, the first time around!
