The Uncut version

Hmm... I bought the DVD of this series but in episode 4 the dirtysong they sing at the tavern in the end of that episode seems to be deleted.

Has anyone else seen this or am I the only one who saw the uncut version?

I own the VHS version, and that scene is cut. As is Skulls song at Flash and Nicoles wedding. I have scene both when the series appeared on Masterpiece Theatre (and captured on tape) back in 1990.

Everyday I break my own personal record for consecutive days without dying.

That's a disgrace they cut Skull's song because at the end of it an event occurs which contrasts rather starkly with the festive mood.

For sure. In fact I was just watching that episode last night (I have the DVDs), and both songs are there in full glory. I love when Skull sings it...

"The Foggy Dew"

Here is something I found on Wikipedia about it...
"Popular conceptions of the meaning of this song are that the gentleman bachelor talked his servant, a fair young maid, into staying overnight rather than walk home in order to protect her from "the foggy, foggy dew." This ultimately resulted in an unplanned pregnancy. After giving birth, the woman either died or went away. The gentleman raised his illegitimate son on his own and did not marry, since he is still a bachelor at the end of the song."

I own the commercially-released Granada/BFS Video three-disc DVD set of "Piece Of Cake," and the songs are all there.

I did too ... and it seemed so uncharacteristic of Skull. It is a pretty melancholy and sobering ... I kept think what is he up to? I even played it a second time!
