Could they re-make this and THEN make a sequel??

Just finished watching this whole series on Netflix. I just loved it--it was so engrossing!

I was so sad to learn that though it clearly was intended to continue, a second season was never made. Now all the actors are too old to make a sequel anyway, unless they made on that was intended to be ten years beyond the original.

But couldn't they re-make the whole thing with new actors, or maybe make a movie out of the first series, and then make a sequel to that?

I'm sure the whole issue is dead and put to rest in BBC-land, but it's just such a shame. It was SO good!

It seems like most of the shows I really like get cancelled. *sigh* A remake wouldn't have the same charm. I like the original actors. Oh well, a least we had ten episodes of a great show.

I think a sequel ("Ten/Fifteen Years Later") would certainly be welcome. I wouldn't change the original cast. The audience could learn all about what happened in those 10-15 years that elapsed since the last episode, the children would be all grown up and ready to create drama in their own lives, the nannies' lives would have changed in ways both predictable and surprising... I'd love a sequel to this show!

I'm watching this series again and I'm so sad they didn't make a second season. So many storylines were left on cliff hangers...
This show was said to be the 90's answer to Upstairs Downstairs... and now with Downton Abby being so popular it's easy to see that people love this type of show. I wouldn't mind a re-boot with new actors... but it would be hard to replace Jason O'Mara! LOVE HIM!
