I beg to differ. My sister, best friend and even my husband sat and watched this movie last night and we all enjoyed it. The dancing was awesome and some parts were slow, but we all enjoyed it. Just goes to show that everyone has different taste. Patrick Swayze is an awesome dancer and it was nice seeing him doing ballet. I can't wait to find the movie on DVD and own it.

I am of the exact same opinion as "lilmagicfairy11." Sure, the movie doesn't have the strongest plot in the world, but it does have certain scenes with great dancing in them. While Swayze had many solo scenes, the plot kept making him stop his dance sequences because his character was angry, upset, angsting, etc., which I rather regretted.

I have to agree with Obliviousdancer. I couldn't even finish watching it (and I'm a dancer). The acting, dialogue, plot, and direction was just way too bad.

This is not the worst Patrick Swayze movie ever, it's the worst anything movie ever. This movie is a perfect study of shallow writing, shallow directing, and shallow acting (watch the scene with the random violin player and opera singer). And did anyone else notice that these dancers should have quit dancing 20 years earlier not 7, I mean, they are like 55. While watching this movie we laughed so hard, it was a sad laughter. The only enjoyable moments in this movie are the stage dancing scenes, very nice.

I agree it was a mess. I love movies and I was so excited to hear about this movie. Patrick Swayze and dancing....naturally should be a great movie. When I finally got to see it, I was really, really disapointed! I got so bored I even fell asleep, something I NEVER do while watching a movie. My advice to anyone considering this movie......skip it and go watch some paint dry. Sorry, but it really was that boring.

I'm sorry but I have to respectfully disagree with this comment. I found this movie inspiring. I am also a dancer and an ageing one at that and I find it very inspiring that they are out there doing what they love, even if they are not the young guns of the dance world, but that's kind of a plus to me. I guess I can just see that they love what they are doing and that makes me like it. I found this movie by shear chance and am quite happy I did.

i'm right there with the original poster. this movie was a chaotic mess. the storyline (was there even one?) was hard to follow, and the acting was not convincing. i found myself cringing a lot, and in my personal opinion, mr. swayze has so outlived his hollywood days. he maybe a great dancer, but his acting is awkward, and i find his movies hard to watch. i am a dancer, but i really didn't appreciate the choreography either. i believe the main style of dance was modern/lyrical, and i don't take classes in either of those, but i think the dancing was just, well, messy. maybe it's like that on purpose, but it wasn't, as my previous director used to say "aesthetically pleasing" (as in it wasn't easy on the eyes). i saw some nice crisp moves in there, but then the next minute, the dancers just ran around like confused chickens. the cover of the movie was confusing as well, because the chick on it was wearing pointe shoes, so i was expecting another gem like Center Stage, but i was wrong. goes to show you that there's truth in the saying "don't judge a book by its cover". i don't mean to offend anyone, and this is my personal opinion.

Dance w/o pride ,bear-hug like never before ,& laugh while doing so .

i totally agree with you. i as well thought it was going to be a Center Stage type of movie. and i loved Center Stage. but tht was not the case at all, and i agree with you there as well by saying that there was no real stroy line to the movie.

I liked the dances, but the plot... really, I found it hard to follow sometimes, too. And that Crissa... she never said anything! I thought she was very boring. Or I don't know. Ridiculous of her not to tell Travis about Bree... It's a weak plot, some dialogs are shallow... sometimes it seemed like they've cut a part of the movie... but I like the dance. And the songs. =)

Because a close friend was involved in this movie from day one--when it was a small theater piece--I know the genesis and I am here to say that this project was doomed the minute Lisa Niemi insisted on directing. Lisa is a triple show business threat: She can't act, she can't write and she certainly can't direct. What she has is an enormous ego. Producers were so glad to sign on for the box office prospects of a Patrick Swayze dance movie that they lost their senses and allowed her to take charge of the production. The results speak for themselves.

I believe you. It was simply the worst movie ever made. His name opened the door for her. She is talentless. She used this as a vehicle for exposing herself and him in intimate moves, as if to say to the audience, "He's all mine"...just look at the slow motion move she chose to make slow motion, where he is dancing alone and is on the floor doing the top part of missionary position sex position. It struck me as a film, she made in a way as if to say to the female audience, "Ha Ha, Look what I got, he's all mine" Stupid really when it's kind of obvious he was really gay, and should have come out of the closet years ago. Swayze had more of a connection with the other male dancer than he had with her, and why wasn't it just her and Swayze dancing, what WAS that other guy doing there?

Why was there a kid in the movie? Look at her get the PHONE??? and tell him he has a kid??? Huh? So contrived, poor execution, and the worst acting, directing, writing, I have ever seen. The dancers did NOT dance in unison either, when they were suppose to.

ZERO STARS.

I love this movie! I think it's beautifully done and I'm normally not into 'arty' type films. This movie most likely comes across strangely because I think it was originally done as a play, where the random dancing etc would in fact fit. A little harder to translate onto the big screen.

I loved it though and was happy to finally see the woman Patrick loves. Lisa is fabulous!
