What happened to Isabelle ?
She was such a central character in the participants lives, yet she just disappears at the end.
shareWhat happened to Isabelle, indeed. This movie was very well done, but I regret I wasted over two and half hours watching it, given that the innocent child at the center of the plot was discarded as casually by the filmakers as she was by the characters. All three adults in this movie are bad people who put their own desires above Isabelle's. Marianne's willingness to leave her child, at least for a time, to be with her lover, made me detest her. What kind of mother deserts her child? And Marcus! He wanted to KILL Isabelle?!
Less importantly, how the devil did these people live as well as they did? Of the three adults, only Marcus seemed to work. Yet, all the houses and apartments was beautiful and beautifully decorated. I kept asking, "Who is paying for all this?"
A good movie about bad people.
Isabelle disappears at the end just like our innocence and youth. It's a metaphor! I guess it is also the reason why Markus commits suicide at the end. Without it, his creativity has also gone. What is the point of living without some kind of mystery?

Judging by their choice of work and elaborate lifestyle, I gathered that they inherited most of it. It explains their emotional immaturity as well.
