Question about affair...Spoilers

I just watched this last night on Netflix on I read some of the messages here. I am a bit confused about why some people think the affair with Judd overlapped the affair with the Sergeant's wife? I recall Judd saying something about it being awhile since she'd been to the apartment. Was this true or was it her way of not giving out the address, when asked?

Overall, I had the impression that Judd HAD BEEN a mistress, but the affair wasn't going on at the current time. Maybe he dumped her and she was upset or maybe he was spending less time with her to make time for his new mistress. Either way, I did not get the sense that that particular affair was at the exclusion of the other one (the main story of the movie).

I agree with you, I think it had been over with Wendy for a while. I don't think he could have more than one girlfriend at a time and only one appartment.

Bless Their Heart! In the South, saying that makes talking about someone OK.

Thanks for your reply.

I thought she said it had been over for about a year. The congresswomen's husband was a real piece of work!

reply

What difference does it make? It's clear that he had slept with both of them.

Your significant other confesses to sleeping with two other people. In one case it was at the same time. In another scenario it was six months apart.

I don't know about you, but in my case the reaction is going to be the same.

reply

The way it was shown was confusing for the viewer and made a difference to the wife.

The movie isn't about me or you so our independent reactions are irrelevant. Nevertheless, I believe there is a difference in cheating when it's a threesome and when the person is a serial cheater who beds two women six months apart.

reply

What I thought was less confusing is the mistress' reaction.

She's had an affair with this guy and so far it hasn't been discovered.

He's dead. She holds it together.

Her social and professional lives are directly linked to his betrayed wife.
Then, the minute she finds out that there was a second mistress, she starts to cry.

I think that was a clue.

If she's messing around with a married guy with whom it was already over, why the tears over a subsequent relationship?

If she's messing around with a married guy, why the tears over a prior adultery?

I don't think anyone was suggesting a threesome, and nothing in the film supports that. Contemporaneous was the implication.

Oh yeah, there is another insight into how the film makers consider such a woman as Wendy in the jogging gig near start of movie.

I'm not sure that I follow the point that you're making here. Expound.

Um, okay.

It's never occurred to me that Peyton was having more than one affair, within the information given by the film.

In the real world, I think that a cheater is going to cheat.

She said that it had been over between them for over a year.
