Steamy scene in the car

Any thoughts on the scene in the car, when Kay and Dutch... get all hot and bothered.
Did you like it? Opinions welcome.

Just one comment on that..as i'm not quite sure of that scene. Dont really know how to put it.....when they were 'fondeling about' etc in car, did kay 'climax' as such, then they stopped? suggesting it as a realise of anger and all the mixed up and confused emotions she was feeling? i'm not entirely certain or convinced.

As I said in another thread, i think she got off and he didn't. When she grabbed his hand and put it in her crotch (a women who knew just what she wanted!), i think that shocked Dutch that she was so forward. i think he ended up on "hold" after that. When she was through he looked like he'd been slapped!

That surprised him, great and very steamy scene.

I have to admit... I did think it was intense. I did like it... it was so full of heat and tension.

Maybe I'm one of the VERY FEW people who I know enjoyed this movie.

reply

I saw this film last night, and maybe i was just too tired but i really don't get the meaning of the whole movie. I found it really boring... i like films which are impressive, interesting, and thought-provoking, which make you cry, or laugh... but when i finished this one i felt that i miss that "something", you know that feeling when you're so impressed that you can't stop thinking about the story.
So anyway... i like romantic movies, and i wouldn't say that this was that bad, but i can't tell what's so exciting about it, and unfortunately i didn't enjoyed it. Not even at all. It can go out of mind in one day...

Oh, and before i forget: Harrison Ford is OLD!!!!!!!!!!

I dont get when people say things like that because growing old is a part of life. We all age and actors cant stop from aging. Is it supposed to be an insult to get old. Yeah looks change but doenst have anything to do with that person as an actor or who they are.

I see how people criticize actresses for doing the plastic surgery and how bad they look but if the actresses did nothing and aged naturallly they are also criticized. Why criticize for something that cant be helped.

Harrison FOrd has aged very well. He looks very distinguishing.

reply

Some of you people are just rude and you sound pretty stupid. Harrison Ford looked great in this movie. He still does after all these years and most likely always will whatever age he is. He may be up in age now, but so what? He's still a great actor and he gets the job done even when a movie he appears in doesn't. He is also nowhere near dumb or stupid. Show some respect. He's a classy guy.

Anyway, I thought this scene was pretty believable. As for the movie itself; I like it more now that I've seen it a few more times, but it's not my favorite. I didn't like it at all the first time I saw it.

"What are you looking at daddy-o?!"

reply

Very "distinguished." lol.

This scene was really strange. A terribly acted and directed and shot love scene. Must be one of the worst of all time.

I loathe this movie.

reply

I dont know what is funny about the word distinguished. That is used to describe lots of men who still look good when they are older. WE all are going to get old, even the people who post to this board who laugh and make fun of older people. Would they themselves want someone to say they looked old or didnt look distinguished. And No Im not old but im related to old people. Ok maybe better words to use would be that he looked refined (as in wine that has become refined with age) or maybe even debonair or dashing.

That was a very poorly done scene. I didnt like it myself. It just felt weird. I mean to just get in the car and suddenly go at it in what might be termed passionate but that did not seem passionate to me. IT seemed awkward, dumb, weird and not realistic at all.

reply

I can tell you folks haven't had many (if any) out bursts of passion that sometimes result in "zipless f#&ks". To really passionate people who are sometimes hurting it can happen. "No , hold on and lets get a room". Yah right.

Hey-
I thought it was great!

reply

It was a strange steamy scene. Like it was full of hurt and they were trying to get back at their spouses....

I found that the book was better than the film. I didn't like this film much the first time I saw it. After I saw it a few more times, I liked it better. I do think that perhaps Kristin Scott Thomas was not the best casting choice.

No, i did REALLY enjoy this movie. Especially when i first saw it a few years ago. i had no idea it did so badly though and was considered to be poor. If anything Harrison Ford is miss-cast. He's just too old, and with that earing looks plain silly! Probably gonna get acttacked now for saying that. Sorry to all the harrison fans! He's a great indiana.
It is a good movie. With new ideas i think, and plot exploration, more into charecter development and growth than cinmagoraphy and effects, which is refreshing but also can be a little slow paced. I can understand why some people found it boring. I enjoyed the exploration of grief. The scene in the car is one of the best in the movie i think. Goes down hill from there....with a few perks here and there.

reply

To each their own, it's ok. I think maybe the pace was a little slow and Harrison and Kristin just didn't mesh or something. I agree that the exploration of grief was different than anything that I can remember an any other film. I do like the film but it was not Harrison's shining moment to be sure.

I really liked HF being old and sort of dumm - a honest, slow thinking cop, nothing brilliant. It was realistic, not just another splendor romance of polished-up faces. I liked this film, really. And KST was splendid!

reply

have you seen Harrison Ford interviewed? He IS old slow and sort of dumb. Funny how he always seems to have this role, eh?

reply

get off my plane!

Yeah, he's a *beep* senior--what are ya gonna do about it? Turn back the hands of time and make him "young" again? Get real. Harrison's still a hottie regardless of his age.

Note: He isn't stupid either.

Yup i agree totally

reply

I think KST was the BEST choice for this film. She played it naturally. That movie isn't her best, that's for sure. But she and HF were perfect on screen together.

And excuse me for saying this, but sometimes you need simple movies, rom coms to forget you had a bad day and that there's always hope somewhere. And I guess that the fact that I watched that movie after a bad day, made me realise that.

reply

She was perfect for the role !

reply

That so called "steamy sex scene in the car" seemed all too contrived to me. It didn't seem to make any sense. It seemed disjointed and out of place. I guess the script writers thought it was time for some sex and that was as good a place as any. There was no lead up to it...Ford and Thomas do not have any chemistry and even if it was portrayed simply as lust, it just didn't make it.

"Is it anything interesting, Matthew?" "Bless you sir, I don't know." "Bless you too, Matthew."

It didn't ring true to me. The whole scene seemed very "forced". Just one of many aspects of the film that challenged me as a viewer to get beyond.

reply

Lion and Crash do you only do it in bed with the lights out? I can tell you've never had any passionate collisions that sometimes result in zipless f*#ks. They were in pain and very attracted to one another - kindred souls. I thought that scene was very real. Been there.

reply

^ The grief, the anger...a zipless fu*#k....it made perfect sense to me.

The steamy scene in the car struck me as one of the least motivated most forced and contrived and sexless sex scenes I have ever seen.

between Kristin and Harrison .

reply

I had read this thread before I had bought the movie so I was expecting it. I shouldn't say that I laughed, but I kind of did. I laughed when they first sat in the car because not even a complete beat later she had used her fist to strike him right in the shoulder. I honestly did not see it coming. So that made me laugh to be honest, but the rest of the scene didn't make me laugh. I'll admit, for me it was different seeing Harrison in a scene like that. Not that he hasn't done those scenes before, but from what I've seen time and time again in the few movies of his that I have always owned on DVD, yeah, it was different for me at least. I did end up liking it though. I already liked his character from the very beginning a whole lot, so this pretty much added....well it added something. I know that much.

And to bear022013:
True story. Harrison's raging hot.

X-Files 2: July 25, 2008!

I enjoyed this movie. I don't quite get it's rather low rating, but sometimes I disagree with the general public on some movies.

reply

Quite steamy I would say.

I got myself in few of those. You can't help but just go for it.

reply

i liked the car scene. it is not original (the anger and tension between two characters becames passion) but it looked quite natural.

It was a horribly awkward and contrived scene. And the whole movie a mishap. One that got away from a Master Director and talented cast.

Hey...it happens.

WOW - I hope you get a chance to experience passion, pain, anger, hate and intensity sometime in your life. The things that drive you insane while they're happening but the things in the end you look back on and would never change....the things that make life real.
