Reminded me a little bit of 'Because of Winn-Dixie'...

... Twee, but charming.

I've been in love! Just 'cos I've never been to Zimbabwe to buy someone a cake!

Are there dogs in "Because of Winn-Dixie"? Because if they're anywhere as cute as Skip, I'm so there!

reply

Yeah, it's about a girl - played by AnnaSophia Robb - and her relationship with her dog... It's very simple and moralistic, but kinda charming nonetheless, and dogs are always cute!

Sounds good! I'll watch any kids' film if it has cute dogs in it. And that also has Dave Matthews, who's also cute. Thanks for the reply!

I'd forgotten Dave Matthews was in it, actually! Hope you enjoy... No problem!

Hey, I've just watched "Because of Winn-Dixie" based on your recommendation, and I loved it even more than "My Dog Skip"! It's really a well-written, thoughtful film that engages the entire cast as well as the viewer. I wish they made more children's – or adults' – films like this. But I have to say it: Skip was cuter than Winn-Dixie.

Thanks for the recommendation!

... and I just realised that AnnaSophia Robb was the star, not Elle Fanning... That's what I get for only watching films once, I suppose... !

Indeed, and this is totally AnnaSophia Robb's film (in addition to the two dogs that played Winn-Dixie, of course).

Elle Fanning has a smaller role as one of the locals, and honestly, I found her character a bit too precocious. She dresses like a club kiddie and acts ohsoverycute. This isn't totally her fault, of course, but I'm glad AnnaSophia was the lead.
