this is one of my favorite movies...when it first came out, i saw it and have been a frankie fan ever since...but this movie gets on my nerves how i cry every time that i watch it...its how my friends know how to cheer me up too...they force me to go home and watch it!
shareThis a really cute movie. Very touching and the actors are all great. Frankie Muniz was amazing and made me cry. This movie is not like the others movies that talk about a kid and a smart dog (like air-bud), this one is really more reallistic since it talks about the tough childhood of this sensitive kid who grew up during the 2nd WW.
shareI thoroughly enjoyed this movie. His mother was definitely ready to try anything and I admire that in a woman. She certainly did not let what people might think or say stop her.
The impression that I had about his dad was that he came home a victim of what we now call PTSD but I think they called it Battle Fatigue. I had a neighbor who was like that and he was a nice guy but it was easy to see that he had problems. I found out later that he had been a Prisoner of War in Europe in WW2 and that explained it all. Maybe that was the issue with the father. The mother certainly loved him and was not afraid to step up to help him and deal with his issues and stand up to him when necessary without demeaning him. A really good family movie.
