Bad acting? The film was Canadian? OK that explains it.

LOL I could barely get through this film. Cheap jab in title, I know.
*SPOILER*

Albeit the kiss at the end, IMO the acting, especially by the
main character, was putrid. Anyone else?

reply

No.

reply

Yes. IMO the actors were very choppy. I could see it in their face "waiting to spurt out the next line" so to speak....irritating.

reply

Of course you couldn't get through this movie, there were no car chases to distract you from waxing your chest, simpleton.

Merry Christmas!

reply

I dunno, I liked it much more than I was expecting to like it. Then again, you might have also liked the newest "Pride & Prejudice", which would make any decent Jane Austine fan who's seen the BBC mini-series puke.

reply

The Topic starter HAS to be american...

reply

When did bad acting and Canadian film become synonymous?

reply

The Final Sacrifice?

because Americans think that untalented rappers are actors.

reply

Really do ALL "Americans" This this? What an ignorant comment. The acting is a bit off but whatever still a good movie. I am an American, and I don't have a personal preference to rapper actors.

reply

Couldn't disagree more. I thought the acting was quite good. Since you asked.

reply

Agreed--the acting was excellent. Don't know what some of you have been smoking.

reply

I thought the acting was excellent.

This was a great film. Think about what hollywood would have done with the same premise, the "last night on earth". They would have butchered it. Last Night did not have the conventional plot twists or dramatic lines that would have made a movie of this theme flop. Perhaps Canadian filmmaking isn't immediate or cliche enough for you.

Not every movie is for every one. But I'm disappointed you didn't see the artistic value in this one.

reply

What are you talking about! It's the other way around. American actors tend to either under-act or go over the top.

Canadian movies differ from american movies by having the element of realism. Take David Cronenberg, his latest movies are successful because they are as realistic as it can get, espescially with the violent scnes where he limits them but makes them unbearable to watch.

Speaking of David Cronenberg, I like the scene where he's held at gun point. Instead flipping out or trying to be a hero, he tries to be submissive to the person whos going to kill him.

reply

And...ends up dead for it.

(but I liked the scene too)

You know it's all subjective. Just because one person says this and another says that doesn't make it a fact. In my opinion this is one of the best films ever. If you thought this was bad, then lemme guess you liked Deep Impact or Armageddon better; they had explosions and shiny things.

reply

I'm American and I liked this movie. It wasn't supposed to be "action-packed". It was a little out there, but good.

However, I also like Armageddon.

If you love Jesus Christ and are 100% proud of it copy this and make your signature!

reply

ooohhh shiny things. Sweet. ;)

reply

I thought the acting was great! Love this film, anyone know where I can watch it online? I'm struggling to find a region 2 DVD for sale.

reply

I, for one, really liked the movie, but did think some of the acting was wooden and off. It hurt the movie for me but didn't ruin it. And for the record, it's possible to like independent and art cinema more than Hollywood blockbusters and still pass criticism at an independent film.

Not enough car chases, explosions and gun fights?

Just finished watching the film. Loved it! It was so subtle and real. This stupid American really liked it. (Canadian or not).

reply

I thought the acting (and the whole movie) was outstanding... Maybe I'm Canadian at heart... Although that would make no sense.
