Wonderful, underrated film

I just happened to wander across this dvd on Amazon and picked it up, assuming it would be quite ungood, as most end-of-the-world films tend to be. Wow was I wrong - this is one of, if not the best end of the world film I have ever seen.

As others point out, it's not about the WHY of the end, it's about people and their reactions - a real look inside of people's hearts and minds, slowly revealing their innermost thoughts and building to a most beautiful ending.

The performances are wonderful, especially Sandra Oh, although everyone did a fine job and the film really brought me in. And the writing - how all the stories meant something... I was shocked and delighted. I won't say more so I don't spoil it, because I hope more people will discover this fantastic film for themselves.

Also I should mention the dark comedy in it is brilliant, everything about this film really won me over. I only wish it had been more successful. If you haven't seen it and appreciate great writing, acting and a fascinating story I do highly recommend this.

I watched it several times on HBO (or one of those networks) a few years ago and it stuck with me like most movies don't. I was on YouTube earlier today looking for something and during that search, "Last Night" popped into my head for some reason so I decided to see if there were any scenes from that movie posted there. To my surprise, I found the entire movie in one continuous run (not a dozen 10-minute segments) posted there. I just love Craig and the last scene never fails to get to me. Here's the link if anyone else is interested in watching this really good movie:

It's really a shame that this movie never got any press or wide release, the characters are relatable and dialog is strong. We get so many remakes and terrible over the top Hollywood films now movies like these are becoming increasingly difficult to find. I wish imdb offered a service to let users recommend moves that could be rented or bought and passed on to others. While people do make lists it's mostly only true fans who look deep enough to find little movies like this one.
