Sandra being pregnant

I was kind of confused by this random bit that was just thrown in there and never mentioned again. And the line, "His embryo, my baby... do you think that's immoral?" It seems kind of oddly phrased. I guess she's wondering if it's immoral that she let herself get pregnant, knowing the world is going to end? Then followed by Patrick's comment "None of us can have children, so I think it's kind of sweet." And Sandra's response, "I wanted to know if I had the power, if I could do it, and I do." I don't know, the whole thing struck me as kind of weird, maybe someone can share their insight on it.

True, and also it casts a little extra doubt that Patrick and Sandra are going to hook up.

My take on it is that many women spend many, if not most, of our fertile years trying not to get pregnant until circumstances are right -- financial, right partner, good relationship, right point in career etc. Sometimes you wonder if you even can get pregnant, or will be able to once "the time is right."

I think she got pregnant knowing the world is going to end just out of curiosity to know if she can, even while knowing that it wouldn't matter in the end anyway.
