This would make a good TV show.

There is a lot of bad tv out there, but also a number of good idea's.

I think this would be a great idea for a tv show. Bear with me as I sketch it out some.

It would start with a Dark screen with, lets say the number 104 on it. The pilot would start sketching out the major characters of the show, and the realization that the world is going to end in 2 years. Some political people want to keep a lid on it, others don't, but in the end it get's leaked and the public knows.

Then we have our characters.

The president - would see him becoming disillusioned, having a hard time keeping a public face, constantly wondering what the point is.

A reverend - before, he kept strong hearted, despite all the scandles, and how anti-religious the world is these days.. but then this happens and he finds himself questioning his faith.

A rich guy, who realizes that with two years to go, he's burned every bridge he's gone acrossed.

A normal teenager, junior or senior in highschool, maybe early college.. only has one parent, and she/he dies in the initial chaos, and he is forced to take care of his younger siblings, even though he doesn't really feel adult himself.

A seismologist/astronomer/whatever who fantatically tries to stop *which is impossible* what is going to eventually happen.

Those are just quick thoughts on some characters. Some variety would obviously be nice, some kid in a ghetto, some convict who JUST got parolled, a mobster.. whatever.

But the show takes place over the time thats left, and their interaction with a world thats diving into chaos.. and how they deal with it all.

I'd watch it.. as long as it didn't suck -_-

Nothing good can ever come from staying with normal people - Outlaw Star

Make it 365, and 1 year. Best part is time is portrayed as a countdown to the end.

I think it would be cooler if every episode was a different characters last 6 hours and at the end of every episode the world ended. Then the start of the next episode would replay the last 6 hours of someone else. Tons of potential for cross-over people, plus very very interesting.

Like "Six Feet Under" and "Last Night" were crossed almost.

I like this take a lot actually.

I don't know how long it could last per se for seasons wise or if it would just be a one season thing with this premise, but at least to my knowledge that would be original and even a little daring as you would never really have a cast that everyone would be use to seeing each week it aired.

@Starski

Interesting. I like that idea of starting with a new set of cast for every new episode, it would be a fine exploration to psychology in an apocalypse. Makes me want to fan-fiction.

While a good idea philosophically, it's a hard sell for networks. TV audiences tend to attach themselves to characters and continuity. Having a different character and set of circumstances every single episode works better on a literary level than a practical one and the ratings would probably nosedive. Even pay channels are quite willing to dump an underperforming show, no matter how brilliant it is. (See: Carnivale for the latter point, Dollhouse for the former.) It could be brilliant but it's probably impractical.
