FTN

I just had to write this to vent my frustration (so apologies for the random rant) For all viewers in the u.k, i have been waiting for ages for season 2 to start on Ftn and expected it to start today. And what happens, season 5 comes on instead! Who the hell makes such a random decision to go from season 1 to 5?!
Am sooooooo sick of how british channels mess with schedules!! AAarrggghhhh!

reply

Hey, you finally got season five? Kewl. That's a good one.

I found it totally by accident when channel flipping-DVI has been on Wednesdays, now they suddenly reschedule to Tuesdays! It was the Bad Smell episode-excellent stuff. When are the episodes concerning Mick's descent into hell? (metaphorically speaking?) He was smoking in this one (cigarettes) but I was not sure if he was adopting a street guise or if the character was meant to have taken up smoking. I don't recall seeing him smoke before.

reply

Mick's always been a smoker off and on. But the increased smoking is a bad sign, yes. A Big Whiff of a Real Bad Smell is the first ep of season five. At First It Was Funny is the first ep that we see Mick in bad shape (he goes off on a suspect, Mona-style, and hallucinates seeing Josie at a stoplight). That's around ep four. It runs pretty much after that onward, though some eps treat it more heavily than others--Doing the Chicken Scratch, Just for Bein' Indian and You've Got Monkey Chatter notably but not solely. Dizzy Looking Down shows him acting sane and sensible but looking mad as a hatter (interesting contrast to the guy in the ep who may or may not have killed his epileptic wife) and the very last season five ep (Everybody Needs a Working Girl) ends with that strange encounter between him and Sue Lewis.

Um, i'm sure it will be a cool season. I was just looking forward to seeing Callum Keith Rennie in the show and i think he is only in seasons two and three.

reply

Hey, don't get defensive. Second season has repeated at least once in the UK since last summer (I know people who have been very impatient to get to season five there) and you didn't mention being a Callum Keith Rennie fan. Kinda hard for me to read your mind, eh?

Anyway, Rennie is only in season two except for a brief scene in season four's Ugly Quick.

If you're looking for Callum Keith Rennie, catch the third season of "Battlestar Galactica" whenever it gets to you (early October here in the US; UK mileage may vary). Not sure whether his appearances will be as sparse as they were in the first season, but at least they won't be zero (like they were in the second season).

Snowleapard, Sorry...i didn't realise i was being "defensive". I thought i just agreed with you that it would be a cool season!!! And of course you wouldn't know i was a CKR fan; i only just mentioned it. Your message sounds like you're pissed off. And i don't get why.

reply

Callum Keith Rennie is definitely in the third season premiere of Battlestar Galactica. Check SciFi dot com's Battlestar page for a teaser - the first 12 minutes or so of the season premiere.

Right, we've had the epileptic one but not sure what we'll get tonight. Trouble is I am not sure FTN air them in order. And of course it's incredibly annoying that the titles don't appear on the screen. I guess it's time for another e mail to ftn!

reply

FTN are airing the episodes in order :) Can't say the same for the order they show the seasons though (does that make sense?lol) They've gone from season four, to one, to five. Making it hard for me, who's only been watching since about halfway through season 4, to follow. In "Run By The Monkeys" lastnights episode I was a bit confused when Josie's sister got Mick in the cafe, asking if he had, had an affair with Josie. Mick said no, but she said she'd found something in Josie's diary suggesting otherwise. He was very tired in this episode. Does he mostly go downhill from there?

reply

I think that's what i meant when i said not in order-they keep filling in with first and second season episodes. It sounds like it's downhill all the way now!

First down, then up--at least, if you call hearing voices and living out of your truck "down".
