what is wrong with these people? I absolutely adore this movie! norm and dave are friggin GREAT together. and the lady who played ms crock was PERFECT! everyone fit together so perfectly in this movie AND it's hilarious! i would give it at least a 6. who else agrees?
shareI agree! I saw this movie when it was at the theater as I am a longtime fan of both McDonald and Chapelle (I didn't just jump on the bandwagon because of the Rick James sketch). I recently found it on DVD and watched it again and had forgotten how funny it actually was. It's 10 times funnier than most of the crap that gets shoved down our throat these days and labelled as comedies (American Pie, Scary Movie). If you get a chance, watch this movie--you WILL laugh!!!

I completely agree. This is one of those movies that no one has ever heard of, but is hilariously funny. I love telling people about it, and hearing how great it was from them. Dave and Norm are simply classic together and Danny Devito pulls out a brilliant preformance as the creepy morgue guy. This is one movie I'm proud to say I own on DVD. Everyone should watch it at least once and revel in its comic glory, that puts most of today's comedies to shame.

This movie is absolutely terrible. The acting is awful, there is no chemistry between Norm and Dave... unless you call bad acting chemistry. They acted like the script was a joke... laughing at the movie on camera.
The plot is stolen from The Big Lebowski and is tired and overdone. The "comedy" in the movie is very bland and typical, the only thing funny is, again, the horrible acting.
This is a classic case of a movie being so bad its funny... That isn't a compliment, the movie sucks.
And no, this really isn't just "opinion". This movie is lacking everything that makes a movie good: a good script, good plot, good acting, good character development, good dialogue, good editing, and most importantly (for a comedy) good laughs (jokes, irony, quirks, etc).
There is some good comedy material in the script, but the acting, execution, and the rest of the movie destroys it.

I also agree that Norm and Dave weren't that great. But I wouldn't say Elaine Stritch was a bad actress at all.
I just saw this movie now after a rent and I think its absolutely bloody brilliant. It was laugh out loud hilarious right from start to finish unlike so many movies these days that gets billed as comedy but has nothing but toilet humor. Considering the low rating of this movie, I can only assume people don't appreciate good comedy anymore.
I would have passed this movie up due to the low rating if the plot didn't sound interesting to me. Man I am glad I saw it, cuz its a real gem.
