Plot Hole

When the Djinn found the robber laying on the ground he offered him a wish. The wish was "I wish I was never born" So if that robber was never born he would have never met Morgana and they would have never looted that museum meaning the Djinn wouldn't have been released. Any ideas?

reply

I noticed that as well. At one point Morgana was upset that there had been no reports of his death or disappearance, making me think that to the rest of the world he had never existed. However, if Morgana remembered him then he MUST have existed. The priest man knew of him as well.

It seems like one of those plot ideas that worked originally on paper but does not stand up well to analysis, the horror genre is full of them.

reply

Yea I know....Cause once he wished that the Djinn would have been defeated once again.

reply

The Djinn just unaged him instead of making him never be born because he had probally learned his lesson about altering the past in the 1st Wishmaster film (assuming he remembers it)

reply

Yes, this was not a good movie.

My favorite plot hole is when the girl tries to amend for her sins, she does the traditional Japanese atonement of slicing her pinky off.

Okay, I can buy that but....

How exactly does boffing a hot priest help with atonement? I would have thought the mere act of that would actually set you back when you're trying to make up for your sins.

reply

If loving him was wrong, she didnt want to be right lol.

reply

There where indeed plot holes throughout the film, but the film was enjoyable regardless. especially that creepy genie. I did not think they could make him any sinister... I was wrong. Andrew just pulls that creature off. what sequence when he pulls worms out of him and smells them after getting shot by the girl was just disgustingly brilliant!

reply

The plotholes are so big in this movie you could drive a truck through them. Although it was somewhat cheesy, I was a fan of the first one because it actually had some logic to it, and the end was inventive. This one was just plain awful.

First off, going back to the original question, of where Eric wishes he'd never been born...has the director even heard of "its a wonderful life?" I mean the movie is played on tv EVERY year and is a classic. How could you not know it? The whole basis for that movie is the one question, so here, if you're using that logic (which is actual logic, unlike this crap) then from that point on Eric isn't born, he doesn't meet Morgana, the robbery never happens, no Djin escaping. Done.

But if we swallow that crap, the movie is just bad overall. Besides the horrific acting and ultra low budget and effects (what was up with that casino? Not only did it look like it was put together in someone's backyard, but the people just stand around as theres a freaky looking demon in the room?) - how is Morgana "pure of heart?" Where in the bible does it talk about self-mutilation, like cutting off a finger? And the priest just gives up years of absitence and alligence to the church in a moment "ok, I'll kiss you, let me undo your shirt?"

The effects are horrific - you could do better effects off a computer at home than when the souls are escaping from people's bodies. The prison scene with the karate twins is ridiculous. You just have two morons kicking at each other in the yard? WTF???

Come on. No one thought this piece of crap through and it insults the original in writing, direction, acting, effects and most of all inteligence. Was the original the smartest or best horror film ever? In no way shape or form, but at least it seemed that SOME effort was put into it. Not this. This is almost as bad as what Highlander 2 did to the original.

reply

Although part2 wasnt as good as the 1st, It was not all that bad. You must remember, the Djin twists your wishes for his own personal gain. Instead of removing him from existence (which caused his imprisonment when he decided to alter the past in part1) he reversed the guys age until there was nothing. his wish was met but not so that his last action was erased. I say It was rather clever. he was not going to fall for that one again. I agree with the whole bible bit. It was indeed silly, yet funny. like Divoff's reaction to the cross. the karate twins just didn't fit, but again Andrew delivered laughs with his creepy grin to the annoyance of the prison guard. the guards acting when separating the ninja kids was hilarious. looked like something out of a cartoon. the djins prison cell mate was a very likable character too. and last, the djin's makeup was creepier than the fist. they went from a boxy look to a more athletic slimy evil-looking creature complete with wounds full of worms. if you truly want to see how bad Wishmaster became. try part 3, 4. this is a masterpiece in comparison.

reply

I just finished watching the second Wishmaster 2 and it was not a bad movie I did not think but the only thing that I did not agree with was that it claimed there was brief nudity in the movie. The only nude part that I saw was when Holly Fields is in the shower but they do not show her topless. All they show is the back side of her which I did not agree with at all.

If you are going to claim there is brief nudity then show her at least topless you know. That is how I would do it if I had done the movie. Then there were things that were screwed up in the movie like many other people have said. You can ask GOD to forgive your sins that you have done because he will forgive you. What they had to do was alter things differently from the first movie.

What they did with this sequel was have it to where she said her wish in a manner that would place the djiin back into the gem. She did that and everyone came back . The thing that they also failed to show was Morgana's boyfriend coming back because if everyones souls were returned so should his as well you know.

I felt it was a good movie. I enjoyed it because I remember going to see the first movie at the movie theater. I believe the sequel came out directly to video immediately you know like the 3rd one and 4th one did. That is why the more that they do of movies in sequels the worse that it gets. Now me if I was doing this movie I would have set it up where possibly one of the scenes is where the Wishmaster goes to a strip joint and possibly one of the customers wishes that the stripper was his woman.

Another idea of mine is possibly having Morgana turn into a hot, horny slut. That would have been cool or even possibly where wishmaster walks into a adult shop and one of the guys says out loud I wish she was mine to *beep* from a porno cover. That is where I may hire like a actual porn star to play the role. Maybe even Jenna Jamison you know. Just a thought on how I would do the movie to help show some nude scenes.

reply

Woah... easy there fella. these aren't those kind of films.

reply

Cone on now you have to use your imagination and creativity you know. I am currently working on a script right now and I have some creative ideas that I am going to use that will be totally different from other movies.

You could have done that to Morgana or set it up like that in the movie. If it was me I would have done that guy. Use some creativity and think outside of the box. Do not think inside the box. That is the whole problem is that I think too many people do not use their imaginations to come up with ways of doing things interesting for a movie.

Who knows maybe my movies that I will write or create maybe too provocative for some or a lot of people but I am not going to care about them you know. I want to be able to have it say use your creativity and do something that is going to catch a lot of peoples attentions you know.

This film may not be a Ron Howard film, but Its definitely not a Ron Jeremy either. I due fairness, I would have liked seeing the bartenders demise in the style of nightmare on elm street. that would have been grotesquely beautiful without being trashy.

reply

I am not saying to totally make it into a porn like you are saying but do it in a tactful way guy. See you do not understand good quality of movie at all. If you have good eye candy to play a leading role then she should be used in a good way and if she did not want to show her body then we get a body double.

I am working on a script right now for a movie and I talk to the leading actress and I have exchanged ideas and it is going to be a B movie and then I am going to work on a couple of scripts for a couple of horror films.

I hope that I can make a good vampire movie for my second movie. The third one is pretty cool that I have for a idea. I have a friend of mine who lives in California who use to be a actress at one time and now wants to work behind the scenes. I told her that I would love to work with her and she may have a part in my movie.

reply

I understand a good HORROR film which is the case here. I also like sleaze from time to time... what guy doesn't? what you continue not to realize is that this is NOT a sleaze film. it was intended to scare or disgust the viewer... not arouse. you obviously have your flavors all mixed up. furthermore, you are straying away from the base topic. If you would like to continue debating this any further, start a topic on the main channel.

BTW, If you want to see an example of that sleaze you speak of, watch Wishmaster 3. which by the way, doomed the franchise. who knows, you may just think its brilliant.

reply

All I was trying to tap into is some of the deadly sins you know. Like every person has to battle in everyday life you know. Nothing wrong with having Morgana tease the priest a little you know.

That is something you do not comprehend in what I am trying to say. Tease a little cause the priest to want the wish and then have it go all wrong you know. Possibly an illusion you know. Where he uses the priests imagination and it is actually the wishmaster instead. I have seen a lot of movies in my time and seen effects like this done to where it has killed off some of the characters in movies.

I use to watch a lot of USA UP ALL NIGHT and loved those style of movies guy. I and others are trying to get a lot of people to help and sign the petition to get this great show back on the air that showed like B movies, cult classics, horror movies, and a few mainstream movies.

If you would like to sign the petition I will give you the website for you and others to sign it. We need your help on this you know. Let your family and friends know about it so we can get it back on the air with Friday nights with Rhonda Shear and Saturday nights with Gilbert Gottfried.

Let everyone know about this petition!

I hate Gilbert Gottfried! The man with the most annoying voice ever!

reply

Well he does have an annoying voice but what I would do when he was doing the commercial breaks were go to the bathroom, get me something cold to drink, something to snack on, or whatever it was so that I would not have to listen to hime.

He did know his B movies and horror movies though. You have to admit that.

Maybe you are a perverted writer, but dont make porn out of a good movie. The good horror movie does not need nudity or sex to be good. Its just the fact that perverted audience do not watch film if they dont see somone *beep* somone there.

reply

I am not a perverted writer and I do not plan on making porn out of a good movie at all. I think a good horror movie does need a little nudity or sex to make the movie interesting. That is not true on what you are saying about a perverted audience.

I think there's more of a conceptual hole in expecting the Wishmaster films to make "tight" logical sense.

They're far more like a darkhouse ride at a county fair than they're like an analytic philosophical argument. Not getting that or not enjoying those darkhouse rides for revelling in their own cheesy creepiness would make it difficult to enjoy the spirit of the films.

There is a place for both modes and many others in cinema. But I just don't think it makes sense to criticize the Wishmaster films from a "plot hole" perspective. It would be like criticizing middle to late period Picasso for not having accurate anatomical proportions.

Another Plot Hole:
In the first one, he got pulled off that dead guy's face. But if the first one never happened, why does he still have the same face?

This answer is a bit contrived, but stay with me. I think that, even though the events of the first movie were negated for the rest of the world (and maybe the universe!), they still happened for the djinn only. Remember that he is an immortal, evil creature who lives outside of what we reckon as time and space. It's a bit like Marty McFly remembering all his experiences in the Back to the Future trilogy, even though, for the rest of the world, some of those things never happened or were radically altered (Like, Marty remembers being in the alternate future where Biff was filthy rich and a mogul, even though that alternate future never happened).

So the djinn kept the face he stole in that alternate reality, because, for him, there are no alternate realities, adjusted or negated timelines, or really no linear "time" as we understand it.

I'm aware that what I just typed in may be a steaming pile of crap, but I thought about that same question after I saw W2, and I think it's a workable, if not great, explanation.

Honestly, when I watched it the first time (and every time since - just finished it a few minutes ago) I just assumed this to be the case. My only disagreement with you is that I assumed that Alex remembered what happened as well - I can't see any reason why she would do a 180ยบ on her relationship with Josh.

> The wish was "I wish I was never born"

Actually, the way the Djinn should have resolved that wish was for Eric's mom to be transported to the scene and have Eric still embedded in her womb as a full grown man.

He wished never to have been born, not that he was never to be conceived.
