Just saw this for the first time

I had never seen this remake before. It is so weird! I did not realize before I watched it that it was a line for line, scene for scene, identical remake. But they added all these bizarre details like Marion dressing like a clown, Sam having the world's worst southern accent even though he's from California, and Lila being a butch lesbian with a big jangly key ring. it seems like they were throwing in random details just to make it different.
I know it's a difference between B&W vs color, but that does not mean you need to dress the character in neon clown clothes that were not even the style in 1998 OR in 1960.

And Vince Vaughn was just miscast as Norman, he was super creepy right from the first impression, and the whole thing of Norman's character is he's supposed to be boyish and polite and almost charming at first and not turn creepy until later. Vince is way too large and physically intimidating, while Perkins had a slight build and a boyish face.
Other differences were due to what was allowed to be shown in the 60s vs the 90s.
The remake was able to have him fapping while spying through the wall, like including the loud fapping noises, but the original could never show that in the 60's. (even though it is implied, and most people would assume it, just not audibly depicted)
