The House?

Does any one else think that the house received a bit of a downgrade in this film, I personally don't think it looks anywhere near as iconic as the house in Hitchcock's film. What gives? why downgrade the look of the house or is it just me that thinks it looks naff.

Wasn't the house in the original burned to the ground?

So for the remake they had to rebuild a house (that looks nothing like the house in the original)

It was in Psycho 4: The Beginning. From memory they built the house in the 98 film in the same location as the 60s film just a little bit in front of it, But why? as I said in my original post it is no where near as iconic looking.

If my knowledge is correct the original house is still on the universal backlot.

Just to add a little more, Why carbon copy the original film? and then swap out one of it's most iconic elements when the rest of the film is a carbon copy? The switch is such a glaring one I begs the question, Why?

The actual house is in the backlot of Universal Studios...California. I think the motel is there too. In psycho 4...they used the set in Universal Floriday. I was there when they were filming, so we couldn't got very close. Sux because I wanted to see that the most. We got pics of ourselves on the steps. Thats as close as we could get. It looked real good. Universal Cali. ...you have to pay extra to see the original. Stupid.
