Black and white?

Considering so much effort was put into making this as much of a remake as possible, why did Gus Van Sant choose to do it in color?

I'd really like to see it in black and white.. just curious to see if it's just me.

Well it's a shot-for-shot remake, so he had to do SOMETHING original right?

Pretty sure it was done as an experiment, because Van Sant wanted to see Psycho in color, & to make it more accesible for audiences, who are generally put off by b/w

Husband and I watched the original & this back to back. Obviously the original is pretty much perfect in every way, but I highly enjoyed this & very glad Van Sant did it as an experiment. Don't think the 1998 version stands on its own, but to watch along with the original is great fun.

I watched them both at the same time, the remake for the first time & the original for the 10th or so time.

Remake on my big monitor, the original on my laptop w/subtitles & muted.

Indeed an interesting watch to see them compared so closely. But the remake is pretty *beep* *beep* though. But at least they didnt change the scenes (a happy ending or something) because it's a shot-for-shot.

I thought the use of colour turned the shower scene murder into a hard-to-watch gore fest worthy of some HOSTEL style "torture porn" flick. (especially the sight of her bleeding back wounds ... Ugh !)

i cant tell if you're serious or not but the shower scene was not a gore fest by any stretch of the definition lol.....u still saw absolutely no penetration of the knife on skin and it was not even remotely like anything shown in hostel. you are definitely either trolling or a complete moron
