Lila Crane a lesbian?
Who's bright idea was it to turn the Lila Crane character into a lesbian. Van Sant's? Julianne Moore's?
There is no "off" position on the genius switch.
It was an odd detail to include. I think they were just kind of looking for some random details to add to each character that would make it different from the original.
Dress Marion like a clown!
Give Sam a cartoon southern accent!
Make Lila a lesbian!
it wasn't even a detail that would drive the storyline or change anything significant, it was just random. because of that, these changes were just distracting instead of well integrated.
In Psycho II, Vera Miles appears as Lila Loomis, which implies that she and Sam got married after Marion's death. I don't know if Psycho II is canon, but it does have Tony Perkins and Vera Miles so I give it some cred.
