What happened to Courtney?

So do you think she ended up in jail?? She must have. Imagine the sequel? She'd probably still rule in prison.

reply

IDK. I just assumed the case was closed and Courtney was just humiliated at the prom. I think if she did went to jail, then Julie and Foxy would have went down too for manslaughter, tampering with evidence, lying, ect. Hell, maybe they're all in jail.

I LOVE that after over a year from my question of 'what happened to courtney?', I/we have an answer from Darren Stein, the writer of Jawbreaker! My vision of Courtney ruling in prison was on point! I love it! This is a great interview! Can't wait for the musical!!

Snippet:

I thought the studio never wanted to do a sequel, though.

Well, what they usually do with movies like ‘Jawbreaker’, is a straight-to-video sequel. Like ‘Cruel Intentions 2’. And it wouldn’t work for ‘Jawbreaker’. But if the stars are lined and if there’s great idea, all the girls want to do it. But right now I’m not feeling it.

Did you ever thought on what the story would look like?

At one point we talked about doing a ‘women in prison’ movie. With Rose being a queen bitch behind bars. You know, like…

Lady GaGa’s ‘Telephone’!

Yeah.

So she was indeed taken to prison after the prom?

Right, right. In the musical the final number is in the prison. So the cool thing is that the musical is taking it a step further.

Probably went to jail :P

I always felt that Julie with be the one that got jail time because Courtney and Marcie had money. Julie get out and comes looking for revenge.

reply

All four of them went on trial for murder and/or conspiracy. Marcie sprung herself by incriminating the other three. Courtney, Julie and Fern eventually get of of jail and go after Marcie with murderous intent.

reply

Yes. Every student and at least one teacher were there. Of course they'd call the police. The card should be evidence enough. There's no evidence to arrest the other girls. It would be LIZ's word against theirs, and since she was exposed as a liar who framed someone innocent for her crime...

reply

The ending was never clear about this, it looks like Julie can't send Courtney to jail since the price for this, will be her own freedom, since she was one of the girls of Liz's prank, therefore as a way to do some justice, she ruined the best moment for Courtney, the prom night. After that night probably the evidence will change and Courtney is now a suspect, then the police will find the picture in the parking lot and the rest well you know...

reply

I always assumed Courtney was arrested. She was the one who put the jawbreaker in Liz's mouth, her fingerprints will be on it.
No one else participated or even KNEW she was going to do that, and there's no evidence they did know.

They have Fern's witness evidence.

Julie, Fern & Courtney's partner in crime (forgot her name now) likely will cut a deal of some kind to testify against Courtney.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

reply

The Jawbreaker was lodged in her mouth and ended up in Liz's throat, the saliva would've rid them of the prints and by the time her body was found wouldn't the Jawbreaker have dissolved?

reply

Do you know how long it would take to eat a jawbreaker? The think was stuck in a dead girls throat,so it's not like it was being actively licked. At some point the body would start decomposing and that may have an effect on any fingerprints on the jawbreaker, however I don't think she was dead long enough to really have an effect.
