So what if he didn't win the race this year? He's the mayor! He can damn well afford to use $1, 000 of his own money to buy turkeys for poor people.

Reading is fundamental. OP says NOTHING about him using his money EVERY year, just ONE year. Christ son, embarrass yourself somewhere else.
