What happened to her at the end of the movie? She looked stoned and was taken away by Hans's men.

shareThat is a really cool interpretation! Gold star. It reminds me of Horst Buchholz's character in "Life Is Beautiful" - a reluctant Nazi doctor forced to participate in the exterminations. Horst became neurotically obsessed with a riddle he couldn't solve (like the secretary's grammar obsession). In both cases it's a coping mechanism to deal with the unspeakable moral conflict they're feeling. Once that obsession is taken away, they crack.
