Movie vs Real Life

yeah I know, real life and the movies aren't exactly the same but this one made things out to be a bit off.


One: Andras who was the pianist & Christian, shot himself (in the movie) in 1944 (date later shown on his grave) But the real pianist, Rezső Seress, who was Jewish, commited suicide by choking with a wire in 1968

two: Lazlo, who was the lyricist and a Jew, died while in the camps (either worked to death or gassed as soon as he got to Auschwitz ). But the real lyricist, László Jávor who wasn't a Jew didn't die in the camps but died in 1956 of a heart attack .

Three: Hanks Wieck ( or whatever the blonde guy who played in the Harmonist last name was). Never technically existed. He didn't pass up a chance to save Lazlo or slept with Ilona or got drugged (heart attack) by Ilona/her son.


so the movie got me confused with whom was who. I thought the old man in the beginning was Lazlo who had survived but then all that I knew about the real Andras & Lazlo characters just confused me at the end.

I think the son was Andras since she went to his grave (way back yonder) and hinted.
